CryoPen uses advanced freezing innovation that is fast, effective and safe for removal of benign skin lesions on face and body

CryoPen is an innovative, high-performance cryosurgery tool that uses advanced freezing technology to remove unsightly skin tags, warts, age spots and other benign skin lesions. Designed for fast, effective and precise treatment, CryoPen can be used on selected lesions on the face and body, including areas close to the eyes.

At YourHealthFirst Clinic in Harley Street, London, we offer CryoPen treatment for a range of benign skin lesions. Your appointment begins with an assessment of the area to be treated, followed by a discussion of the procedure and aftercare.

What Is CryoPen?

CryoPen is a precision cryosurgery device that delivers a controlled stream of extreme cold to a targeted skin lesion. The freezing process treats the selected tissue, which then gradually heals as the body sheds the treated area.

CryoPen is designed to provide pinpoint accuracy, helping to target the lesion while limiting exposure to the surrounding healthy skin. It is a non-surgical treatment that does not require cutting out the lesion.

Treatment time and the number of sessions required depend on the lesion's type, size and depth, as well as its location and individual response.

Skin Lesions Treated with CryoPen

The practitioner will assess the lesion and confirm its suitability before treatment.

  • Common Warts: Small, rough skin growths caused by a viral infection. They can appear on different parts of the body, including the hands and fingers.
  • Verrucas: Warts that develop on the soles of the feet. They may feel uncomfortable or painful, particularly when walking or standing.
  • Skin Tags: Small, soft growths that commonly develop in areas where skin rubs against skin or clothing, such as the neck, underarms and eyelids.
  • Solar Lentigines — Age, Sun & Liver Spots: Flat, pigmented spots that commonly appear on sun-exposed skin. They are often known as age spots, sun spots or liver spots.
  • Seborrhoeic Keratosis: Common, usually benign skin growths. They may have a waxy, rough or raised appearance and can vary in colour and size.
  • Cherry Angiomas: Small red or purple spots formed by clusters of tiny blood vessels, also called haemangiomata in some treatment lists.
  • Angiofibroma — Fibrous Papules: Small, firm, benign growths that commonly appear on the face, particularly around the nose.
  • Dermatofibroma: Firm, benign skin nodules that may appear as small raised or discoloured areas, often on the legs or arms.
  • Molluscum Contagiosum — Water Warts: A viral skin infection that causes small, raised bumps. These may have a central dimple and can occur in clusters.
  • Porokeratosis: A group of skin conditions that can cause patches or plaques with a raised, ridge-like edge. Assessment is important to establish the diagnosis and appropriate management.
  • Ephelides — Freckles: Small areas of increased pigmentation that often become more noticeable after sun exposure.
  • Milia: Tiny, firm, white or yellowish cysts that commonly appear on the face, particularly around the eyes and cheeks.

Other Lesion Types: your treatment list may also include actinic keratosis, fibroma, haemangioma, lentigo, seborrhoeic keratosis, skin tag and wart.

Important: lesions must be correctly identified before cosmetic treatment. Any lesion that is changing, bleeding, irregular, painful or otherwise suspicious should be referred for appropriate medical assessment before considering removal. Actinic keratosis requires a specific medical assessment and should not be treated as a routine cosmetic lesion.

The CryoPen device is designed to deliver a stream of cold without directly touching the lesion. This avoids the use of messy buds, cones or apertures.

CryoPen is designed to provide minimal discomfort. Sensation varies by person and treatment area, and some temporary stinging, tenderness or sensitivity may occur.

CryoPen may be used for selected benign lesions such as skin tags, common warts, verrucas, solar lentigines, seborrhoeic keratoses, cherry angiomas and other lesions listed above. The practitioner must assess the lesion before treatment.

CryoPen uses advanced freezing technology to target selected skin lesions. The device delivers a fine stream of extreme cold to the treatment area. The freezing process damages the targeted tissue, which then gradually dries, forms a blister or scab, and heals. The device is designed for pinpoint accuracy and controlled application, and treatment time depends on the size and type of lesion, its depth and its location.

CryoPen treatment is designed to cause minimal discomfort. You may feel a cold, stinging or sharp sensation during the freezing process, and the level of sensation varies depending on the treatment area, the lesion and your individual sensitivity. The treated area may feel tender or sensitive afterwards — your practitioner will explain what you may experience and how to care for the area following treatment.

The number of sessions depends on the type, size, depth and location of the lesion, as well as how it responds to treatment. Some lesions may be treated in one session, while others may need additional treatment — your practitioner will discuss the likely treatment plan during your assessment.

At YourHealthFirst Clinic, we offer CryoPen treatment in Harley Street, London, for patients who wish to have selected benign skin lesions assessed and treated. Your appointment includes an assessment of the area, an explanation of the treatment process and advice on what to expect afterwards — we aim to provide a professional, personalised service tailored to your skin concern.
